What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved, non-surgical fat reduction treatment that uses a handheld device to precisely freeze and destroy fat below the surface of the skin. It can be used on a number of body areas including:

  • Love handles
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Back/Bra fat
  • Upper arms
  • Beneath the chin
  • Abdomen

REMEMBER: This body contouring procedure is NOT suitable for patients who are looking to achieve significant weight loss, but rather for treating stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise.

What happens during a CoolSculpting Procedure?

This innovative body contouring technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target fat cells beneath the skin. These fat cells are crystallized and then die.

Over time, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells, leaving you with a more toned and sculpted figure.

CoolSculpting FAQs:

  • How is it administered? During your treatment, a gel pad and applicator will be applied to the treatment area, delivering controlled cooling to the targeted fat.
  • How long does it take? This body contouring procedure can take up to 60 minutes. It is pain-free so you can read a book, listen to music, or even take a nap!
  • What is the recovery period? CoolSculpting is a non-surgical body contouring procedure and often times, patients can even return to work as soon as their treatment is over.
  • Are there any side effects? Following this procedure, you may experience temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness or itching, but these will generally resolve within a few days.
  • Are the results permanent? Yes! Once the treated fat cells are crystallised, they die and are naturally eliminated from the body.
  • When will I see the results? Your body will continue to flush out fat cells for up to 6 months after the treatment, but you may start to see changes as quickly as 3 weeks after your procedure.
  • What happens if I gain weight after the procedure? After seeing the incredible results from their body contouring procedure, many patients are even more motivated to stay close to their ideal weight. However, if you do gain weight, you’ll gain it more evenly over your body, not just in the treated area.

Am I a Candidate For CoolSculpting?

The CoolSculpting body contouring procedure is specifically designed for patients who have unwanted fat in specific areas. Unlike weight loss surgery (eg. gastric bypass), CoolSculpting is NOT a weight loss solution.

It is ideal for:

  • Those within 20 pounds of their ideal weight
  • Men and women who exercise regularly
  • Patients who keep to a healthy and nutritious diet

Since CoolSculpting uses intensely cold temperatures to crystalize and kill fat cells, patients SHOULD NOT undergo the body contouring procedure if they suffer from:

  • Cryoglobulinemia
  • Paroxysmal cold hemoglobinuria
  • Cold agglutinin disease
