Brow Lift 101

Browplasty, also known as a brow or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure that aims to ‘lift’ a drooping brow.

This plastic surgery procedure can be performed for:

  • Cosmetic purposes (eliminate deep creases or any unwanted facial lines)
  • Functional purposes (Improve vision which can be impaired by a drooping brow)

To further produce a more youthful appearance, forehead lifts are often combined with eyelid surgery in an effort to reduce the sagging skin of the upper eyelids.

What Does a Forehead Lift Accomplish?

As the face ages, it naturally begins to droop. This includes your neck, cheeks and the brow region.

The main signs of brow/forehead aging are:

  • Horizontal wrinkles in the forehead
  • Vertical wrinkles between the eyebrows
  • Flat eyebrows/eyebrows which slope downwards
  • Eyebrows which sit low, causing the appearance of drooping eyelids

A forehead lift is a plastic surgery procedure aimed at restoring the forehead and brow to a smooth, naturally elevated position.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Forehead Lift?

In general, ideal candidates for a forehead lift should be in good health and be relatively fit.

Patients are recommended to quit smoking two weeks prior to the plastic surgery procedure and for at least 4 weeks after the surgery.

If you have some/all of the following signs, you may want to consider a forehead lift:

  • Descended brows
  • Flattened brow arches
  • Deep horizontal creases across your forehead
  • Excess skin or fatty tissue hanging over your eyes

One of our highly qualified plastic surgeons can help determine whether or not you are a good candidate for this procedure.
